MEDICAL MALPRACTICE LAW GROUP
Medical professionals sometimes make mistakes. In some cases they fail to diagnose patients properly, in others they perform procedures incorrectly, or the wrong type of treatment may have been recommended. When medical professionals make mistakes, they can cause serious and profound injury and even death. In such cases, medical workers, including doctors, may be liable to provide compensation to their patients or their patient's dependents in the case of death.
Medical malpractice claims are usually highly complicated. The burden is on the patient to provide evidence to prove not only that the medical professional was negligent (i.e. that their medical care did not meet the appropriate standard), but that this negligence caused the patient's injury or death. Consequently, if you or your loved one is a victim of medical malpractice, you will need a highly experienced legal team, as well as the resources and network of experts they can provide, to seek the compensation to which you or your loved one may be entitled.
Led by partner John J. Hyde, the Medical Malpractice Law Group at Paine Edmonds LLP assists individuals throughout the province of British Columbia with claims arising from substandard medical care and medical mistakes. Our team has experience handling medical malpractice claims ranging from doctors' liability to substandard hospital care.
Mr. Hyde recently appeared before the Court of Appeal for British Columbia on behalf of an individual suffering from incurable and inoperable osteosclerotic myeloma and POEMS (polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes) syndrome. His client's claim against three doctors who allegedly failed to diagnose him was previously dismissed. In a precedent-setting decision, Kruk v. Ho, Mr. Hyde successfully convinced the Court of Appeal that his client's claim against those doctors should be allowed to proceed.
Timely and effective investigation is absolutely critical in the case of medical malpractice. If you or your loved one has a potential claim, you should contact us immediately for a consultation. The meeting may take place in person or over the telephone, whichever is most convenient and comfortable for you. Our firm offers free initial consultations and flexible fee arrangements.
