J. Lyle Woodley has been a
member of the British Columbia Bar since 1964. He obtained his Bachelor of
Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of British Columbia.
In 1982 he was appointed Queen's Counsel. Prior to joining Paine
Edmonds, Lyle was employed for eleven years in a supervisory capacity with the
Insurance Company of North America [INA]. He has been the National
Chairman of the Insurance Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, a
Bencher with the Law Society of British Columbia, Treasurer and a Director of
the British Columbia Courthouse Library Society. He is currently a member of
the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, The Defence Research
Institute Inc. and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of A.D.R.
Chambers Inc., a national mediation and arbitration group. His major
areas of practice are insurance litigation involving insurance coverage
disputes [including fraud], product liability, construction liability,
professional negligence, general litigation [including personal injury],
mediation and arbitration.
