Gary was born in Vernon,
B.C. in 1965. He grew up in Williams Lake and Parksville.
He received
his B.A. (Honours) in English from the University of Victoria in 1988 and his
LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 1998. Gary was called to the
Bar of British Columbia in 1999. For five years prior to attending law
school, Gary was a claims adjuster with the Insurance Corporation of British
Columbia. Gary has served on the Insurance Law sub-section of the
Canadian Bar Association and is a past president of that sub-section. He
remains a member of that sub-section, as well as the Pension & Benefits and
Civil Litigation sub-sections. His practice includes motor vehicle defence and
plaintiff work, insurance defence, subrogation and recovery and a variety of
other insurance and civil litigation matters. Gary is an avid hockey
player. He divides his recreational time between hockey, his family and
inflicting minor physical harm on himself in the name of home improvements.
